Description

Heiner Müller, an acclaimed, controversial and vital German writer, is the benchmark for the directorial approach of Sebastian Nübling: the director produces Die Hamletmaschine with the Exile Ensemble.

“Heiner Müller wrote Die Hamletmaschine in 1977, a play that deals with the topics of feminism, oppression and brutality. The very complex, dense and associative nine-page text is inspired by William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Sebastian Nübling and the Exile Ensemble dissect Müller’s text and adapt its themes to the ideas and turmoils of the Syrian War”. (Jens Hillje)
