The Conservatory at Longwood Gardens—a living/breathing glass house—and Hunters Point South Waterfront Park—a submersible earthwork— are paradigms of intelligent design that construct new reciprocities between natural and engineered infrastructures. As our ecological and social worlds become increasingly fragile, new forms of public nature are needed.
