Don’t Get Me Wrong
album
description
With Don’t Get Me Wrong, an immersive installation stretching across 45 linear metres and composed of 26 acrylic-on-canvas panels, Nabil Nahas invites viewers into a visual and metaphysical experience that questions the relationship between humans, nature and the cosmos. Bringing together figuration, geometric abstraction and fractal forms, the work employs spectacle as a means of fostering introspection and meditation, encouraging visitors to reconnect with the universe.
The pavilion becomes a site for contemplating the fragility of humankind, no more than a speck of dust within the immensity of creation. A meeting point between art, culture and spirituality, the project follows a philosophical and symbolic approach that extends beyond aesthetic exploration to question being, memory and identity. Drawing on references spanning Greco-Roman, Judeo-Christian, Byzantine and Islamic civilisations, Nahas fuses heritages to formulate a pictorial language that conveys pluralism and dialogue, reflecting the fluid identity that characterises multicultural fabric of Lebanon.
Suspended overhead like a continuous frieze, the monumental paintings generate a field of energy without hierarchy or linear time, transforming the pavilion into a space of negotiation, harmony and human connection.
