Tanzania (United Republic of)

Minor Frequencies invites us to listen in a transversal way, to pay attention to the background noise, beyond grand proclamations. Through distinct yet interconnected practices, Tanzanian artists are echoed by the polyphonic chorus of a selected group of artists from other places, tracing the inner architectures of the Nation of Tanzania through four lines of inquiry: Body, Gesture, Archive, Mind. In the industrial archaeology venue, the artworks inhabit a scenographic structure punctuated by backdrops of vibrant fabrics that host multidisciplinary installations.

The exhibition expands as a terrain of relational topographies in which to cultivate curiosity, lose one’s way, amplify questions, and open oneself to the desire to better understand which minor frequencies – even those only dreamed of by art – emerge from our Nation. The pavilion becomes more than an exhibition: an atmosphere, a space that listens in return.
