Accreditation

ACCREDITATION CATEGORIES

  • The Venice International Film Festival offers all those working in the cinematographic sector the possibility of requesting accreditation according to their specific field of employment.
  • Accreditation will be granted according to the respective regulations and is subject to available seats.
  • Participation in the Venice Film Festival involves full acceptance of its regulations.
  • Any violation of these will result in the immediate withdrawal of the accreditation badge.

Accreditation passes for press, radio-television, photographers, press attaches, will be reserved to media professionals provided the application forms satisfy the accreditation requirements. In detail:

 

print press

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the editor-in-chief of the publication sending the journalist to cover the Festival; the letter must specify the frequency of the publication (daily, etc), the circulation and the area of distribution;
  • a copy of articles written for the previous Festival (if they have not already been sent) or three recent articles written by the journalist for a new application.

 

online press

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the editor-in-chief of the publication sending the journalist to cover the Festival; the frequency with which web pages are updated and average number of daily hits per site must be specified;
  • a copy of articles written for the previous Festival (if they have not already been sent) or three recent articles written by the journalist for a new application.

The accreditation is reserved to specialized websites (cinema/entertainment).

Social networks will not be taken into consideration.

 

radio television

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the editor-in-chief of the network sending the journalist to cover the Festival; details must be provided on the type of programme (periodicity, scheduling, name of the programme), audience, and broadcasting area; names and functions of the members of the journalistic team;
  • a copy (or link) of the videotape recordings of tv programs made during the previous Festival, if this has not already been sent. Links of recent tv shows in case of new request.

 

photographers

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the director of the photographic agency or by the editor-in-chief of the publication which is sending the photographer to cover the Festival. We do not accept freelancers;
  • a copy of the photographic documentation made during the previous Festival or copy of three recent published photos stating the photographer’s activity.

The Photo pass is free of charge and does not give access to screenings. It cannot be issued if in possession of a press badge or other pass.

 

press attaches

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the head of the production or distribution company specifying the title of the film/films (and related Festival section) represented by the press agent.

The Press Office reserves the right to approve applications as we see fit. Please note that the deadline is July 27th, 2019.

We cannot guarantee that applications that arrive at our office after that date will be accepted.

Only applications for accreditation with the necessary documentation will be considered.

Requests which have simultaneously been sent to other registration offices asking for other typologies of accreditation (Industry or Professional), will not be taken into consideration.

Badges are issued at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia, taking into account the regulations for registration and the limited number of available seats.

The code for access to the accreditation form online will be sent when the accreditation is accepted.

The press badge will be delivered upon payment of a fee (60 euros).

 

Please note that the accreditation badge, can be paid exclusively with traceable payment systems, such as credit and debit card, also for the purchase at the Accreditation Desk.

Pre-payment will allow a priority line at the Accreditation Desk.

A Press Pass allows access to screenings as marked day-by-day in the programme.

The Pass is valid for the whole duration of the Festival.

In the event of cancellation, the payment of the badge cannot be refunded. In case of loss or theft, the duplication of the badge will be made upon presentation of a notification of the police department and a new payment.

 

Note on embargo

Reviews of films can be published only when the first official public screening of each film has begun.

Accreditation to the Venice Production Bridge is reserved exclusively to film industry professionals and those working within the artistic or technical activities of the audio-visual sector.

All requests for accreditation must include specific and up-to-date documentation concerning the professional activity.

Accreditation passes are issued at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia.

Online payment is highly recommended in order to be constantly updated on the services offered by your accreditation and to be able to benefit from them beforehand.

THE VENICE PRODUCTION BRIDGE PROVIDES THREE KINDS OF ACCREDITATION: Industry Gold, Industry Trade and Industry Professional.

 

(A) INDUSTRY GOLD ACCREDITATION

Early Bird deadline: Monday 1st July, 2019

Registration: 350 Euro

Early Bird registration (until 1st July, 2019)*: 290 Euro

* to benefit from the Early Bird fee you must make the accreditation request by 1st July and the online payment by and no later than 10th July 2019.

 

The accreditation gives the following benefits:

  • • First priority admission to Press & Industry screenings of the Festival;
  • • The possibility to see all selected films of the Festival;
  • • The possibility to request tickets for public screenings that have no priority access for pass holders;
  • • Exclusive access to the VPB Market Screenings;
  • • Exclusive access to the Digital Video Library, consisting of films from the festival selection and Venice Production Bridge titles;
  • • Access to the Industry Gold Club, reserved to producers, buyers and sales agents (GOLD ONLY);
  • • Access to the Industry Business Centre and the Exhibition Area;
  • • Access to conferences, networking sessions  and other activities organized by the Venice Production Bridge such as Final Cut in Venice, the Venice Gap-Financing Market and the Book Adaptation Rights Market;
  • • Official catalogue of the Festival;
  • • Industry Guide online;
  • • Company listing in the online Industry Guide for registered users by August 24th;
  • • Access to the online Industry Guide;
  • • Access to the online Digital Video Library Catalogue;
  • • Complete program of the Venice Production Bridge 2019;
  • • Wi-Fi and Internet access.

 

The following categories can apply for accreditation:

* Industry Gold accreditation will only be granted to the persons who are in charge of acquisition, production, sales and are fully employed by the registered companies and to the Film Commission’s and Film Fund’s Head of Department.

The accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the festival.

 

In occasion of the Venice Production Bridge some screening rooms will be available to the exclusive access of the VPB Market Screenings for all Industry Trade / Gold pass holders.

All producers and sales agents are welcomed to send to the office their titles before 9th August, 2019.

The Festival screening schedule will be published on the website by mid-August and in the program manual, which you will receive upon arrival with your accreditation pass.

If for any reason you should be unable to attend, but have requested your accreditation before the deadline (1st July, 2019) and paid for this in advance online, it will be possible to receive a 60% refund. Your cancellation must be received before 2nd August 2019 and the Administrative Office of Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia will deal with the refund.

Accreditation requests received after 1st July or cancellations received after 2nd August cannot be refunded.

 

Locations and Services

On the occasion of the upcoming 76th edition of the Venice International Film Festival (28th August – 7th September, 2019), the Venice Production Bridge will be located at the Excelsior Hotel with: Exhibition AreaDigital Video LibraryIndustry Business Centre and Industry Gold Club.

Furthermore, VPB Market Screenings will be organized to the exclusive access of all the Industry Trade/Gold participants.

All production companies and world sales agents accredited to the Festival may submit titles to the VPB Market Screenings (films produced after 1st January, 2019) and to the Digital Video Library (films produced after 9th September, 2018). All Industry Trade / Gold pass holders can: access the Digital Video Library to view the titles from the festival selection and submitted through the Venice Production Bridge; purchase an exhibition stall in the Exhibition Area (in case of purchase of this  service, Industry Trade / Gold accreditation will be issued at the Early Bird fee (230 Euro Trade / 290 Euro Gold); organize a conference, round table to present projects or the activities of their company; display promotional material at the Exhibition Area; purchase signposting spaces; buy slots for trailers shown  on TV  screens laid in the Industry Gold Club and in the Exhibition Area; place brochure, gadgets, flyers or notebooks into the Industry bags handed to all Industry participants; buy advertising pages in the VPB Programme.

(B) INDUSTRY TRADE ACCREDITATION

Registration: 280 Euro

The accreditation gives the following benefits:

  • • Second priority admission to Press & Industry screenings of the Festival;
  • • The possibility to see all selected films of the Festival;
  • • The possibility to request tickets for public screenings that have no priority access for pass holders (limited availability);
  • • Exclusive access to the VPB Market Screenings;
  • • Exclusive access to the Digital Video Library, consisting of films from the Festival selection  and  Industry Office titles;
  • • Access to the Industry Business Centre and the Exhibition Area;
  • • Access to conferences, networking sessions and other activities organized by the Venice Production Bridge;
  • • Official Catalogue of the festival;
  • • Industry Guide online;
  • • Company listing in the online Industry Guide for registered users by August 24th;
  • • Access to the online Industry Guide;

The accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the Festival.

The Festival screening schedule will be published on the website by mid-August and in the program manual, which you will  receive upon arrival with your accreditation pass.

(C) INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

Early Bird deadline: Monday 1st July, 2019

Registration: 220 Euro

Early Bird Registration (until 1st July, 2019)*: 170 Euro

* to benefit from the Early Bird fee you must make the accreditation request by 1st July and the online payment by and no later than 10th July 2019.

 

The accreditation gives the following benefits:

  • • Third priority admission to Press & Industry screenings of the Festival;
  • • The possibility to see all selected films of the festival;
  • • Access to the Exhibition Area;
  • • Access to conferences organized by the Venice Production Bridge;
  • • Complete program of the Venice Production Bridge 2019.

INDUSTRY ACCREDITATION APPLICATIONS

The formal Industry accreditation request needs to include::

· for Industry Trade / Gold accreditation request, the up-to-date documentation of the cinematographic activity of the company *

· for Industry Professional accreditation request, the up-to-date documentation of the film activity of the company or, in case of a single professional from the artistic and technical sector, a CV.

* Law Firms must send in attachment a letter by the cinematographic company attesting that the firm represents the legal activities of the cinematographic company.

 

For all Industry accreditations, the application of the Early Bird fee will be guaranteed to the requests made by 1st July and the online payment made by 10th July 2019.

The Accreditation Office will evaluate all requests. If your application has been successful, you will receive a communication.

The company data of all Industry Trade / Gold participants will be published in the Industry Guide only after the payment.

Only requests respecting this registration method, supported by the necessary documentation, will be taken into consideration.

The kind of accreditation pass and the number of passes to be issued for each company are at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia.

Accreditation passes are strictly personal and must be collected in person from the Industry Accreditation desk, presenting the same ID entered in the accreditation form as well as a copy of the registration confirmation.

No refund is possible in case of non-attendance or cancellation.

Loss or theft of the accreditation badge have to be reported to the local police authority. The badge will only be replaced against renewed payment and within the times of the issuing office.

The Film Delegation accreditation is exclusively reserved for individuals involved with the films shown within the Official Selection of the Festival and in the programmes of the Settimana Internazionale della Critica and the Giornate degli Autori.

 

The Film Delegation accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the Festival. This accreditation is a service offered by the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia, guaranteeing the best possible stay in Venice to its guests. The accreditation holds the same privileges as the Industry Professional accreditation and gives access to the Exhibition Area, the possibility to see all selected films and third priority admission to the Press & Industry Screenings.

The number of Film Delegation accreditations to be issued for each presented film is at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia.

 

Producers, sales agents and distributors with the necessary requirements and presented formally by their production company have the right to request Industry Gold accreditation at the minimum registration price and with all the privileges and services offered. This accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the Festival.

All information concerning the programme, projection and screening times of the Festival will be available on the official website from mid - August, as well as in the official programme which will be handed out with the accreditation badge.

Starting from 1st August the main representative of each production company of the films selected for the Festival will receive all necessary information concerning the accreditation procedure.

Cinema accreditation is exclusively reserved to those who operate within the film sector under a cultural profile:

  • University lecturers or researchers involved in teaching or researching subjects related to film;
  • Teachers of public schools teaching film studies, whose request must be accompanied by up-to-date documentation of the subjects taught and by a letter from the head teacher;
  • University students, attending courses in the theory and history of film at Italian or foreign universities, presented by their teacher;
  • Main representatives of major national film associations;
  • Head of or close collaborators of cultural associations producing detailed evidence of their film activity;
  • Heads of publishing companies with specific editorial interest in the field of cinema;
  • Heads of Italian and foreign cultural institutions;
  • Heads of public and local cultural administration. 

 

Requests which do not fit into the above categories will not be considered.

All requests must be accompanied by detailed and up-to-date documentation indicating the applicant’s specific relation to cinema.

Requests which have simultaneously been sent to other accreditation offices asking for other categories of accreditation (Press, Industry), will not be considered.

 

CINEMA ACCREDITATION AND ITS ADVANTAGES

Cinema accreditation can only be requested by those working within a cultural field concerned with film and fitting one of the categories listed in the official regulations.

Registration fee: 90 Euro

Early bird fee just for cinema students: 50 Euro
The request must be made by and not later than 30th May and the payment by and no later than 5th June 2019.

Early bird fee for all the other categories: 70 Euro
The request must be made by and not later than 1st July and the payment by and no later than 10th July 2019.

 

Cinema accreditation also allows you to take advantage of accommodation at a special price in the affiliated university residences for the entire duration of the Festival. For further information:

CINEMA ACCREDITATION REQUEST

The formal Cinema accreditation request needs to include:

• request on letterhead paper;

• number of accreditations requested, complete with names and specific positions of these people within the organisation, company or association;

• full home address of the applicant (first name, second name, address, telephone and e-mail), or whoever will be the contact throughout the accreditation process;

• up-to-date documentation of cinematographic activity;

• for University lecturers and researchers: request on the University letterhead paper, specifying the department and title of the film course being taught, or enclosing up-to-date documentation of research interests;

• for individual students: request on letterhead paper from the University department, signed by the lecturer of the film course.

 

We remind you that the request has to be accompanied by the appropriate documentation as outlined by the online procedures.

Where accreditation is granted, the registration office will issue the relevant forms. These must be filled out and returned online.

Badges are issued at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia.

La Biennale di Venezia, on the occasion of the 76th Venice International Film Festival (Lido di Venezia, 28th August  – 7th September 2019), encourages and favors the participation of University students in the Festival by offering a special accreditation.

The University Students accreditation can be requested by Italian and foreign students of any course of study. The accreditation is valid for the 11-day duration of the Festival (28th August – 7th September 2019) and will allow access to about 200 screenings reserved for accredited visitors and including films in the official line-up (selected screenings as long as seats are available).

 

The cost of the accreditation with Early Bird fee is 50€ (instead of 90€) for accreditation requests received by 30th May 2019.

In order to benefit from the Early Bird fee the payment shall be done by 5th June 2019.

 

The University Students accreditation can be purchased exclusively online with traceable payment systems, such as credit card and prepaid card.

The accreditation for University Students also allows to have:

  • accommodation at a special price in university facilities for the entire duration of the Festival.

As part of the 76th Venice International Film Festival, persons over 18 years of age have the possibility to request a special VR accreditation. VR accreditations are valid for admissions, upon booking and depending on availability, to the Venice Virtual Reality section on the Lazzaretto Vecchio island.

All accreditation pass holders may attend the VR section upon reservation.

Persons over 18 years of age may apply for VR accreditation, that can be purchased in two versions: Full, valid for five days (from 3rd to 7th September), costing € 60, and Daily, valid for one day, costing € 20.

The VR official program, with the screening schedule and the exact locations, will be available on La Biennale website (www.labiennale.org). VR accreditation holders will also be given the program brochure when collecting their accreditation.

The 76th Venice International Film Festival reserves to under 26 and over 60 year-old spectators and to university students the possibility to request a Promotional Card that gives access, according to seat availability, to all the screenings scheduled for Cinema accreditation.  Minors below the age of 18 cannot be accredited.

Under 26 / Over 60 (valid for 11 days): fee € 150
Under 26 / Over 60 (valid for 6 days): fee € 110
University Students (valid for 6 days): fee € 50

The Promotional Card can be purchased exclusively online with traceable payment systems, such as credit card and prepaid card.

The Promotional Card valid for 11 days also allows you to take advantage of accommodation at a special price in the affiliated university residences for the entire duration of the Festival.
