National and international calls for two new choreographic works

Starting Tuesday September 15^th through Tuesday October 20^th, the Italian call and the international call for two original choreographic creations, to premiere on the stages of Biennale Danza 2027, will be online on the website of La Biennale di Venezia (www.labiennale.org).

International call

For the sixth consecutive year, Biennale Danza renews its support for the new generations of artists and dance companies in Italy and abroad. Ranging from solos to compositions for ensemble, the projects submitted in response to the requirements of the calls on or before October 20^th 2026, will be selected by Wayne McGregor, artistic director of the Dance Department. The winners will receive a production prize of up to a maximum of 30,000 euro from La Biennale di Venezia, which may be used autonomously or in collaboration with other partners for the production of the new choreographic work, to premiere at the 21^st International Festival of Contemporary Dance (15 > 31 July 2027). The Fondazione will furthermore cover all the costs necessary for staging the performance of the project: artists’ fees, travel and lodging expenses and production specifications.

The choreographic creations selected in the past include: Fo:no by Diego Tortelli in 2022; Vanishing Place by Luna Cenere and Bogotà by Andrea Peña in 2023; Posguerra by Melisa Zulberti, Folklore Dynamics by Vidavé and There was still time by Miller de Nobili in 2024; A Good Man is Hard to Find by the British duo Bullyache, together with Sisifo felice by Philippe Kratz and Pablo Girolami with the Nuovo Balletto di Toscana; Just Between Me and Jesus by Oli Mathiesen from New Zealand and Invisibile by Andrea Salustri in 2026.
