4 events open to the public in the Library of the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) from 10-18 November.

4 events at the Biennale Library

In November the Historical Archive of La Biennale di Venezia is organizing 4 events open to the public, in a dialogue that involves personalities, institutions and universities. The events will be held in person in the Library of the Historical Archive of the Contemporary Arts (ASAC), located in the Central Pavilion at the Giardini.

The programme:
Wednesday 10 November

12:30 pm - Launch of the first project of the International Centre for Research on the Contemporary Arts in collaboration with Universities and Institutes of Higher Learning.  Conducted by Roberto Cicutto, President of La Biennale di Venezia, and Debora Rossi, Head of La Biennale di Venezia Historical Archives, with representatives of IULM - Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione, Sapienza Università di Roma, Università IUAV di Venezia, Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia, and Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello Venezia .

Thursday 11 November

12 noon - Press conference to present the first Italian encyclopedia dedicated to the contemporary arts at an international level, realized by Treccani.
Speakers include Roberto Cicutto, President of La Biennale di Venezia, Massimo Bray, Treccani General Manager, Vincenzo Trione and Valeria Della Valle, Scientific Direction of the Enciclopedia Treccani dell’Arte Contemporanea.

 

3:00 pm - The contemporary arts narrate the XX and XXI centuries: Massimo Bray, Vincenzo Trione and Valeria Della Valle, in a dialogue about the Enciclopedia Treccani with Melania Mazzucco, writer, Stefano Bartezzaghi, semiologist, Maurizio Ferraris, philosopher, and Francesco Vezzoli, artist.

Wednesday 17 November

3:00 pm - Round table discussion with the finalists of the Campiello Giovani and the participants in the Biennale College project “Writing in residence” at the Historical Archives of La Biennale. A dialogue aimed at stimulating a participated educational discussion about creative writing and the writing pursuant to a research project.

Thursday 18 November

11:30 am - Presentation of the book The International Architecture Exhibition 1980 – 2021, published by La Biennale di Venezia. Speakers will include Roberto Cicutto, President of La Biennale, Paolo Baratta, President of La Biennale through 2020, Hashim Sarkis, curator of the Biennale Architettura 2021, Amerigo Restucci, architect, historian and academic, Luca Molinari, architect, curator and scientific director of the M9 Museum in Mestre (Venezia).

 

3:00 pm - Awards ceremony to be held in person for the Premio di Architettura Città di Oderzo. Participants will include the members of the jury: Paolo Baratta (president), architects Carlo Birrozzi, Maria Claudia Clemente, Alfonso Femia and Dr Massimo Tonello. At the end of the ceremony, the collaboration will be announced between the Historical Archives of La Biennale di Venezia and the Premio di Architettura Città di Oderzo.

How to attend

The events are open to the public free of charge, with reservation required while seats last. Admission to the Biennale Architettura 2021 is not included. For further information and ticket service, please consult our website www.labiennale.org.

At the entrance gate, body temperature will be measured and must be no greater than 37.5 °C to allow admission. Each visitor must present an EU Covid Certificate (Green Pass) or equivalent certificate that proves: complete vaccination, administration of the first dose of the vaccine (in the case that the vaccine requires two doses), complete recovery from Covid, or a negative result from a PCR or rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours before the visit. Visitors must present a valid ID together with the certificate.
