Reflective Intelligences
Album
Description
Reflective Intelligences uses the table as a curatorial device to reflect on the potential of architecture to incorporate the spatial, material, and communal intelligences of territories into the institutional processes that anticipate the arrival of AI in Chile. The pavilion highlights and makes visible the spatiality and materiality of data infrastructure currently present in Chilean territory, shedding light on the institutional negotiation processes and the socio-environmental frictions caused by its construction and operation. The Pavilion becomes a space to reflect on the inclusion of intelligences and bodies that are typically excluded from public discussions about these infrastructures—such as social, mineral, and water bodies that sustain the deployment of this infrastructure. Responding to the call of the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, Reflective Intelligences gives voice to the absent intelligences in AI development, reconsidering the fundamental role that architecture can play in discussions around environmental controversies and proposing new ways of cohabiting with artificial intelligence in Chile and beyond.
