Kosovo (Republic of)

Emerging Assemblages examines the disruption of rooted ecological relationships and embodied knowledge systems under climate pressure, and the forms of sense-making that emerge in liminal spaces of uncertainty. Through fieldwork with Kosovo farmers, it traces a landscape in transition—agricultural traditions encountering new climatic realities, familiar ecological cues becoming unreliable, knowledge systems challenged and reinvented. As longstanding crops like wheat and beans struggle, new crops like kiwi and figs take root, exposing both the fragility and adaptability of situated environmental knowledge. Farmers recalibrate not through prediction, but through sensory attunement, where knowing the land is a matter of making sense.
