Nordic Countries (Finland, Norway, Sweden)

The way we think about bodies manifests in the way we design and build architecture. Architecture influences our bodies, determining how we use spaces and how our bodies perform within the fabric of our built environment. In the exhibition Industry Muscle at the Nordic Countries Pavilion, performance artist Teo Ala-Ruona continues his work on trans embodiment and ecology. In the exhibition the body, gender, modern architecture and fossil-based culture are interconnected. The work unfolds through five speculative scores, a set of instructions, that serve as critical prompts for future architecture.
