Oscar Nominations 2026: four films from the Biennale Cinema receive 15 nominations overall
Nominated for Best International Film the Silver Lion The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania; 9 nominations for Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro; Emma Stone (Bugonia by Yorgos Lanthimos) nominated for Actress in a Leading Role.
OSCAR NOMINATIONS 2026
The nominations for the Oscars 2026 were announced today, and from the list of nominations four films were presented in Competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival 2025 of La Biennale di Venezia, receiving 15 nominations overall.
The Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize film The Voice of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania, was nominated for Best International Feature Film.
The other three nominated films are Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro (nine nominations, including Best Film), Bugonia di Yorgos Lanthimos (four nominations, including Best Picture) and the Silver Lion For Best Director filmThe Smashing Machine by Benny Safdie (one nomination).
The nine nominations received by Frankenstein are: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay (Guillermo del Toro), Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role (Jacob Elordi), Best Achievement in Cinematography (Dan Laustsen), Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score) (Alexandre Desplat), Best Achievement in Production Design (Tamara Deverell, Shane Vieau), Best Achievement in Costume Design (Kate Hawley), Best Sound (Greg Chapman, Nathan Robitaille, Nelson Ferreira, Christian T. Cooke, Brad Zoern) and Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling (Mike Hill, Jordan Samuel, Cliona Furey).
The four nominations received by Bugonia are: Best Picture, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (Emma Stone, fifth Oscar Nomination), Best Adapted Screenplay (Will Tracy) and Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score) (Jerskin Fendrix).
The Smashing Machine by Benny Safdie obtained one nomination for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling (Kazu Hiro, Glen P. Griffin, Björn Rehbein).
