In the new episode of La Biennale on Air Koyo Kouoh’s team (Siddhartha Mitter, Rasha Salti, Gabe Beckhurst Feijoo, Rory Tsapayi, Marie-Hélène Pereira) takes listeners on a journey through the musical, literary, poetic, and cinematic references of the 61st International Art Exhibition, which will open on 9 May 2026. The episode begins with a tribute to the Curator’s vision, starting with the memory of a pivotal meeting held in Dakar in April 2025, a moment where the Exhibition first began to take shape under the shade of a mango tree. In Minor Keys is an invitation to tune in to the more intimate and delicate frequencies, similar to those of the blues, of slow jazz or the mornaThis sensibility is also reflected in the literature that inspired the project, by the pages of works such as Beloved by Toni Morrison or One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. Finally, the episode underscores how poetry is the beating heart of this Biennale Arte, understood as a living force moving through the Giardini and the Arsenale, which will be animated by performances, sounds and movements, transforming the visitors into an integral part of a vast choral composition.

The episode is further enriched by a contribution from Elena Pollacchi, Professor at Ca’ Foscari and a consultant for the Venice International Film Festival, who will talk about the long artistic career of the master of Taiwanese cinema Tsai Ming-liang, winner of the Golden Lion in Venice in 1994 for Vive l’amour, and his thirty-year relationship with La Biennale, where he has presented feature films, short films, documentaries, performances, and works of virtual reality—leading up to this year’s Biennale Arte, where he is featured among the 110 invited artists. Pollacchi also previews part of the conversation she recorded with Tsai, recently published in issue 1/26 of La Biennale di Venezia Magazine.
