Fissures of Light Diaspora: dissonances in Fa minor
album
description
Yasna Kohlbrenner alias KoKo’Ya
As an alchemist of memory as matter, Yasna cracks surfaces so light can pass. Wounds become thresholds. Stones carved by survivors and faint figures carry the memory of left-behind children. Here, vulnerability is transformed into strength, into light.
Serge Mouangue
Serge Mouangue pursues a “third aesthetics” between cultures and belief systems. Les Lucioles (Fireflies, ホタル) draws from Japanese and West African spiritual relationships to nature cycles, movement, transformation. A suspended circle of light unfolds across a 22-metre installation, where Bamileke feather Juju hats and indigo-dyed textiles form a contemplative passage through time. “We, humans, are small; the elements are the whole.”
Atelier Seiran
Founded in 1970 in Tokushima by master dyer Yoko Hashimoto, Atelier Seiran is dedicated to the revival of traditional Japanese indigo. Her daughters continue this legacy today, sustaining indigo as both cultural heritage and contemporary artistic practice.
Guest Artists
The guest artists – Diack, Nuku, de la Haba, Lingua, Mega, Ndoye, Petrotta, Restrepo, Scaringella, Sylla, Solia, Thioye – explore the notion of diaspora through diverse experiences of memory, integration and exclusion, returning us to the rhythm that underlies every shared history.
