The workshop was open to 8 teams composed of Italian directors and producers, selected after a competition announcement that was launched on January 15.
The 8 Italian projects and teams that took part in the workshop are:

After the conclusion of the development workshop – and following the evaluation of the updated material produced by the teams and submitted by mid-August – a further selection of 3 projects will be conducted.
The 3 Italian projects that are selected will be invited to participate - along with the 9 international projects chosen through a competition announcement launched in May - in an additional workshop in Venice during the month of October. From these twelve projects, a maximum of four projects will then be selected, at least two of which made by female directors, and will receive support from the Biennale for a sum that does not exceed 200,000 euros each. Within one year, these projects will become micro-budget feature-length films and will be presented at the 84th Venice Film Festival in 2027.
