Art and computing are not merely fields of knowledge or means of creation; they are spaces in which encounters can take place between people, cultures, forms of consciousness, and different perspectives. Encountering the other is not simply an encounter with someone who is different from us, but an opportunity to reconsider the boundaries of our knowledge and the ways in which we understand the world and ourselves.

Art creates a space in which it is possible to disagree, not immediately understand, and even remain within the question. It is precisely within this space that the possibility of listening emerges. The other is no longer merely an object of observation, but a presence that invites us into dialogue.

In the contemporary era, this space of dialogue is expanding into the realms of computing and artificial intelligence. Technology is no longer merely a tool at the service of human beings; it is becoming a new participant in the creative process, raising fundamental questions about creativity, consciousness, authorship, memory, and the relationship between human beings and machines. Artificial intelligence does not replace human encounter; rather, it offers us a new mirror through which to reconsider what it means to be human, what constitutes creation, and what happens when a human idea encounters a system that does not think and act in the same way that we do.

When art emerges from encounters between different people, cultures, and new technologies, it becomes a space of multilayered dialogue: between person and person, between human and machine, between matter and idea, and between what is known and what is possible.

The symposium, to be held on October 27, at the Israeli Pavilion and will bring together computer scientists, researchers, and artists to explore how the encounter between creativity, thought, and technology can open new horizons of knowledge, imagination, and collaborative practice.

The symposium, an event of the Israeli Pavilion, is organized by Belu-Simion Fainaru, the artist of the Israeli Pavilion, and Avital Bar-Shay, Curator of the Israeli Pavilion, in collaboration with the University of Padua, the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine), the University of Haifa, and the Mediterranean Biennale.
