Description

Leonardo Manzan, from Rome, age 26 and winner of the 2018/19 edition of the Biennale College Teatro - Directors Under 30, presents Cirano deve morire, freely inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac, as part of the Festival. The play is produced by La Biennale di Venezia and was developed under the tutorship of Director Antonio Latella.

“I feel that it is right for me to come out and openly say what I think of Cirano, why Cirano must die, and I must somehow motivate my iconoclastic desire. But I risk the possibility that it be rather Cirano saying what he thinks of me. Can we be iconoclastic towards what is not an icon? Perhaps it is exactly this that is the most important thing: to show that Cirano is not an icon at all, nor does he offer schemes. Sowing clues, traces that lead to us. Cirano appears to us much more similar, much closer than we thought, if we can unmask him; that is, literally, if we remove his mask.” (Leonardo Manzan)
