Amid the climate and water crises, Hybrid Ecologies: The Planetary Metabolism of AI explores water as a vital element to both AI’s metabolism and life on Earth. Grounded in research conducted in Chile, the installation recognises water’s intelligence: its flow and properties sustaining the infrastructures that enable AI. It aims to raise an urgent debate about the role of AI in a context defined by planetary boundaries and explores the possibilities of interspecies collaboration between different forms of intelligence: water, human, and technological. Hybrid Ecologies reimagines cohabitation by intertwining the natural and artificial within a framework of care and regeneration, ensuring habitability on a planet undergoing profound transformation.
