Soundtrack for an Invisible House
Album
Description
The project examines the ruins of the Log pod Mangartom mosque as a nonument, a site whose meaning transformed due to political and social changes. It traces entangled narratives of value, spirituality and belonging, but also perpetual war. It questions the instrumentalisation of religion for political and territorial goals and traces the mosque’s history in relation to European Muslim identities of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Soundtrack for an Invisible House functions as both shelter and amplifier. The pavilion unfolds as a sound sculpture over a seemingly empty platform resembling a ruin, created from material waste of previous Biennale pavilions. Sounds – murmurs, fragments of songs, shepherds’ calls and voices – animate the space, while mirrors create an infinite landscape of ruins.
Set within the Arsenale’s historic spaces, the pavilion invites rest, contemplation, and listening. It creates a dialogue with the Biennale’s curatorial theme In Minor Keys, which calls attention to quieter, less celebrated histories.
