A focus on the new home of the Historical Archive of La Biennale di Venezia at the Arsenale, presented to the public on 1 and 2 June, and the testimonials by some of the protagonists of the 54th International Theatre Festival directed by Willem Dafoe, in the tenth episode of the Podcast La Biennale on Air. In this new episode Sir Wayne McGregor presents the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance (17 July – 1 August 2026), which he directs, and director Joshua Oppenheimer talks about his films in an excerpt from the interview published in issue 2/26 of La Biennale di Venezia Magazine. In the new episode of La Biennale on Air, a specific focus is dedicated to the mission of the Historical Archive – International Centre for Research on Contemporary Arts of La Biennale di Venezia and its new home at the Arsenale, presented to the public on 1 and 2 June 2026 with lectures and performances from all the artistic departments. Debora Rossi, head of the Historical Archive, outlines the historical genesis and strategic significance of this place for the Venetian institution. Artists María Magdalena Campos-Pons and Kamaal Malak talk about the performance WATERMARKS, with which they represented Biennale Arte for the opening of the Archive’s new space at the Arsenale. Also featured is a special musical excerpt from the Biennale Musica concert by Caterina Barbieri, held at the conclusion of the two-day inauguration event.

Sir Wayne McGregor, Artistic Director of Biennale Danza, introduces the main themes and guests of the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance (17 July – 1 August 2026), titled Time Does Not Exist, in an excerpt from the presentation press conference. It will be followed by testimonials from some of the most celebrated protagonists of the recent 54th International Theatre Festival (7 – 21 June 2026) directed by Willem Dafoe: Satoshi Miyagi, Dorcy Rugamba, Christos Stergioglou and Alex Drakos Ktistakis.

The episode is further enriched by an exclusive excerpt from the interview recorded by film critic Francesco Giai Via with the Oscar-nominated director Joshua Oppenheimer, for the recently published issue 2/26 of La Biennale di Venezia Magazine, Emisferi / Hemispheres. The filmmaker reflects on the political and social themes of his famous documentaries The Act of Killing (2012) and The Look of Silence (2014) and his fiction film debut The End (2024).
