Fourth episode

The fourth episode of the Podcast La Biennale on Air is now online with a previously unreleased excerpt from an interview with Julian Schnabel for the new issue of La Biennale di Venezia Magazine, and a tribute by Sir Wayne McGregor to the great composer Luciano Berio for the Special Project of the Historical Archive Coro. The new episode of the Podcast created by La Biennale is available for listening starting 18 December 2025, on the major platforms (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music – Audible and YouTube) and on the website of La Biennale di Venezia (La Biennale on Air).

The fourth episode of La Biennale on Air contains an audio excerpt from the interview that film critic Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan recorded with the American artist and director Julian Schnabel about his career spanning art and cinema and his latest film In the Hand of Dante, presented in 2025 Out of Competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The complete interview will be published in issue 4/25 of La Biennale di Venezia Magazine, dedicated to the theme of the applied arts.

The episode is enriched with a contribution by the Artistic Director of La Biennale’s Dance Department, Sir Wayne McGregor, who talks about the Special Project of the Historical Archive Coro by Luciano Berio, performed on 6 and 7 December 2025 at the Teatro La Fenice, for which the British choreographer created the choreographies.

This is followed by an audio message from the new Curators of the 20th International Architecture Exhibition in 2027, Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu and two excerpts by the American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, winner of this year’s Golden Lion at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival for the film Father Mother Sister Brother, from the Festival’s presentation press conference and prize-winners’ press conference.

The episode ends with reading recommendations by the Artistic Directors of the Cinema, Dance, Theatre and Music Departments, respectively Alberto Barbera, Sir Wayne McGregor, Willem Dafoe and Caterina Barbieri, who share their thoughts on contemporary novels and books.

The Podcast La Biennale on Air is released monthly in the form of audio episodes in English and offers access to all the Departments of La Biennale, sharing the content of the Exhibitions, Festivals, Special Projects and collections of the Historical Archive with contributions recorded by the Artistic Directors, artists, filmmakers, performers and other figures from the world of culture.
