Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro wins three Academy Awards
Best Production Design, Costume Design, Makeup and Hairstyling, following its world premiere in Competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival 2025.
Frankenstein wins three Oscars
La Biennale di Venezia wishes to congratulate the director Guillermo Del Toro, as well as the award-winning artists and the production team for Frankenstein – which held its world premiere screening in Competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival 2025 – for the three Oscars it won tonight in Los Angeles, at the 98th Academy Awards.
In particular, Frankenstein was acknowledged for Best Production Design by Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau, Best Costume Design by Kate Hawley, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling by Mike Hill, Jordan Samuel and Cliona Furey.
The 82nd Venice International Film Festival earned 15 nominations overall for the four films it presented in Competition, with nine nominations for Frankenstein by Guillermo del Toro including Best Film.
Regarding the current awards season, La Biennale also notes that at the recent awards ceremony for the Césars, the most important awards in French cinema, L’Attachement – The Ties That Bind Us by Carine Tardieu, which had its world premiere screening at the 81st Venice International Film Festival 2024 in the Orizzonti section, won in the Best Film and Best Adapted Screenplay categories.
The 83rd Venice International Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera and organised by La Biennale di Venezia, will be held from 2 to 12 September 2026.
