Venice Production Bridge / Gap-Financing Market 2017

The 4th edition of the Gap-Financing Market will be held from Sept. 1st to 3rd during the 74th Venice Film Festival

A project dedicated to European and international producers with projects in the final stages of development who are seeking co-producers, financiers and distributors.

The call

La Biennale di Venezia chaired by Paolo Baratta, announces the 4th edition of the Gap-Financing Market, part of the Venice Production Bridge, to be held from September 1st to September 3rd 2017 during the 74th Venice International Film Festival directed by Alberto Barbera (Lido di Venezia, 30 August – 9 September).

The text of the international call is available online on the website www.labiennale.org. The deadline for the submission of the projects, which will then go through a selection process, is May 3rd 2017.

Since last year, the Gap-Financing Market has been expanded to include the entire audio-visual sphere – Fiction, Documentaries, Television and Web Series and Virtual Reality.

It is dedicated to European and international producers with projects in the final stages of development who are seeking co-producers, financiers and distributors.

Through one-to-one meetings with international professionals (producers, sales agents, distributors, financiers, television broadcasters and funds), the Gap Financing Market is often the place where a project can secure the final resources it needs to begin its production phase.

The projects

The Call will select a total of 40 European and international projects:

  • Films: 15/18 fiction feature films from all over the world, with no genre limitation (including animation feature films), provided they have secured at least 70% of their funding.
  • Documentaries: 7/10 international narrative or creative feature documentaries
  • TV Series: 4/5 European projects
  • Web Series: 3 European projects
  • Virtual Reality: 7/8 VR projects from all over the world

From September 1st to 3rd, a selection of 47 European and international projects will be presented, including the 7 Virtual Reality films developed at the Biennale College – Cinema / Virtual Reality.
