Climate change compels urbanists to challenge the urban/nature dialectic. Cities need to be reframed as ecologically active “next natures,” and buildings as biologically active metabolic structures. Probiotic Tower aims to explore how to realise low carbon construction in large, dense cities like Cairo by simply using structures that already exist.
