In the Hambach Forest, climate activists have built several generations of tree house settlements since 2012, to block the logging of the forest for the expansion of the Hambach open-pit lignite mine. The installation features a Y-shaped bridge that hung approximately 11 metres above the ground until 2023. It comes from a barrio named Oaktown, formed by connecting a dozen tree houses located at a height of 17 metres with bridges and climbing nets.
