Mothmama

A mother and daughter’s closeness is slowly eroded by the gaze of others.

I made this film out of a growing unease about the future of human connection in a world where intimacy is no longer just felt, but observed, measured and circulated. Mothmama unfolds within the fragile space of a mother and daughter’s bond; a relationship that is formative, tender and deeply interdependent. My intention was to capture the genuine warmth of their connection while simultaneously leaning into the ache of its fragility.
Mothmama is a meditation on what is lost when private bonds are no longer defined solely by those who share them. I want the audience to feel the weight of their own gaze and to sense how they, as viewers, contribute to the performance unfolding before them. My hope is that viewers leave with a heightened awareness of how precious and how easily fractured our private connections truly are in a world where our closest bonds are increasingly visible.
