Description
Hosted by the Biennale College Teatro, www.wordworldwar.bomb is a project developed by the Accademia Nazionale d’Arte Drammatica “Silvio d’Amico” for its final-year acting students, with artistic supervision provided by Antonio Latella.
In the alliterative echoes of its title, Wordworldwar offers a wry allusion to the wonderland of Lewis Carroll’s Alice books – a place where words possess both magical power and a lingering horror, an aura that reminds us of their explosive potential. Every word is a bomb that might blow us up, more minefield than garden of earthly delights. Words can be more lethal than weapons, albeit in a different way – yet there is still no greater power than the power of speech. Wars can be waged, and even won, with words. We have asked each of the artists involved to keep the power of words in mind, as well as the battles that can still be fought – even today, in times of war – through the power of dialogue.
