ACCREDITATION CATEGORIES

  • The Venice International Film Festival offers all those working in the cinematographic sector the possibility of requesting accreditation according to their specific field of employment. Each user can only apply for one accreditation. Requests which have simultaneously been sent to different accreditation offices will not be considered.
  • Accreditation will be granted according to the respective regulations and is subject to available seats.
  • Participation in the Venice Film Festival involves full acceptance of its regulations.
  • Any violation of these will result in the immediate withdrawal of the accreditation badge.

Regulations and online pre-payment of the accreditation badge

Opening hours of the accreditation desks

Accreditation passes for press, radio-television, photographers, press attaches, will be reserved to media professionals provided the application forms satisfy the accreditation requirements. In detail:

 

print press

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the editor-in-chief of the publication sending the journalist to cover the Festival; the letter must specify the frequency of the publication (daily, etc), the circulation and the area of distribution;
  • a copy of articles written for the previous Festival (if they have not already been sent) or three recent articles written by the journalist for a new application;

 

online press

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the editor-in-chief of the publication sending the journalist to cover the Festival; the frequency with which web pages are updated and average number of daily hits per site must be specified;
  • a copy of articles written for the previous Festival (if they have not already been sent) or three recent articles written by the journalist for a new application;

The accreditation is reserved to specialized websites (cinema/entertainment).

Social networks will not be taken into consideration.

 

radio television

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the editor-in-chief of the network sending the journalist to cover the Festival; details must be provided on the type of programme (periodicity, scheduling, name of the programme) audience, and broadcasting area; names and functions of the members of the journalistic team. The pass for technical operators is free of charge and does not give access to screenings;
  • a copy (or link) of the videotape recordings of tv programs made during the previous Festival, if this has not already been sent. Links of recent tv shows in case of new request;

 

photographers

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the director of the photographic agency or by the editor-in-chief of the publication which is sending the photographer to cover the Festival. We do not accept freelancers;
  • a copy of the photographic documentation made during the previous Festival or copy of three recent published photos stating the photographer’s activity;

The Photo pass is free of charge and does not give access to screenings.  It cannot be issued if in possession of a press badge or other pass.

The procedure for the official appointments (photo call and red carpet) will be communicated when the accreditation is confirmed.

  • a letter on official headed paper signed by the head of the production or distribution company  specifying the title of the film/films (and related Festival section) represented by the press agent.

Deadline: August 16, 2021.

Only applications for accreditation with the necessary documentation will be considered.

Requests which have simultaneously been sent to other registration offices asking for other typologies of accreditation (Press, Industry or Professional), will not be taken into consideration.

Badges are issued at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia, taking into account the regulations for registration and the limited number of available seats.

The code for access to the accreditation form online will be sent when the accreditation is accepted.

 

Registration fee: 60 euro

The accreditation card can be purchased only in advance  by credit card until  28th  August; in compliance with anti-Covid measures payment at the Desk will not be possible.

A Press Pass allows access to screenings as marked in the day-by-day programme.

The Pass is valid for the whole duration of the Festival.

In the event of cancellation, the payment of the badge cannot be refunded. In case of loss or theft, the duplication of the badge will be made upon presentation of a notification  of the police department and a new payment.

 

Note on embargo
Film reviews can only be published when the first official public screening of each film has begun.

Industry Gold, Trade and Professional accreditation are reserved exclusively to film industry professionals and those engaged in artistic or technical activities within the audio-visual sector.

Those eligible for Industry Gold and Trade accreditation may request the Online VPB accreditation. Please check all the services in the Online VPB Accreditation section.

All requests for accreditation must include specific and up-to-date documentation concerning the professional activity carried out.

Accreditation passes are issued at the full discretion of the La Biennale di Venezia.

Early Bird deadline: Tuesday 30th June 2021
Full fee deadline: Thursday 29th July 2021
Late fee deadline: Saturday 28th August 2021

Starting from 29th August 2021, the On-Site Fee will be applied for payment at the Accreditation Desk.

Please note that the accreditation badge, digital entry, can be paid exclusively with traceable payment systems, such as credit and debit cards,  including for purchase at the Accreditation Desk.
 

(A)  INDUSTRY GOLD ACCREDITATION

Accreditation gives the following benefits:

· First priority admission to Press & Industry screenings of the festival;
· The possibility to see all selected films of the festival;
· The online access to the projects of the Venice VR Expanded section;
· The possibility to request tickets for public screenings that have no priority access for pass holders.

And exclusive access to:

• the booking of 1-to-1 meetings with the projects selected for the Venice Gap-Financing Market, the Book Adaptation Rights Market, Final Cut in Venice and the VOD Market Day;
• purchase of the services offered by the Venice Production Bridge;
• the  Final Cut in Venice workshop;
• the On-Site and/or Online VPB Market Screenings;
• the Digital Video Library consisting of films from the festival selection and Venice Production Bridge titles;
• the Industry Gold Club reserved to producers, buyers and sales agents (GOLD only);
• conferences, networking sessions and other activities organized by the Venice Production Bridge;
• the reserved areas and functions of the Venice Production Bridge website;
• the Industry Business Centre;
• the online Industry Guide and company data listed in the online Industry Guide for registered users who have paid their accreditation by 27th August;
• the official Catalogue of the festival.

The accreditation will also guarantee access: to the Online Venice Production Bridge and Market Screenings Schedule 2021, to the online Digital Video Library Catalogue, to the exhibition area, to all the conferences streamed via the VPB Live Channel (streaming service), and Wi-Fi and Internet access.

* Industry Gold accreditation will only be granted to those  in charge of acquisition, production, sales and who are fully employed by the registered companies and  film commissions’ or film funds’ Heads of Department.

The accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the 78th Venice International Film Festival.

The 78th Venice International Film Festival screening schedule will be published on the website by mid-August.

If for any reason you should be unable to attend, but have requested your accreditation before  30th June, 2021 and paid in advance online, it will be possible to receive a 60% refund. Your cancellation must be received by 31st July 2021 and the Administrative Office of La Biennale di Venezia will manage the refund.
For accreditation requests received after 30th June  and cancellations received after 31st July the purchase of the accreditation cannot be refunded.
 

Locations and Services of the Venice Production Bridge
On the occasion of the upcoming 78th edition of the Venice International Film Festival (1st – 11th September 2021), the Venice Production Bridge (2nd – 7th September 2021) will organize the following events: Venice Gap-Financing Market, Book Adaptation Rights Market, Final Cut in Venice, On-Site and/or Online VPB Market, the Venice VR Market, the European Film Forum and the VOD Market Day. Furthermore,  as in other years the Venice Production Bridge will propose various  services including the Industry Gold Club, Industry Business Centre, Spazio Incontri (meeting room), and Exhibition Areas.

VPB Market Screenings will be available only for Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants. The Digital Video Library will be available to view films on the Festival Scope Pro platform (pro.festivalscope.com) via a personal password given to all Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants.

Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants  can submit their films produced after 1st  January 2021 to the VPB Market Screenings, no later than 5th August 2021. They can submit films produced after 7th September 2020 to the Digital Video Library, no later than 5th August 2021.

It is also possible exclusively for Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants to purchase Venice Production Bridge promotional services such as the organization of round tables and conferences, the purchase of trailer slots in monitors of the Industry Gold Club and in the Exhibition Areas, the purchase of advertising pages in the Online VPB Programme and Market Screenings Schedule, or banners in the Exhibition Areas.

INDUSTRY ACCREDITATION APPLICATION

It is necessary to send a formal and complete request with the updated profile of the company *, or the CV in the case of individual professionals within the sector, by filling in all the fields of the online form.

* Law firms must attach a letter by the cinematographic company attesting that the firm represents the legal activities of the cinematographic company.

The Registration Office will evaluate the requests for all Industry accreditation types. If your application has been successful, you will receive a written communication.

Only requests respecting this registration method and supported by the necessary documentation will be taken into consideration.

The kind of accreditation  and the number of passes to be issued for each company are at the full discretion of La Biennale di Venezia.

Accreditation passes are strictly personal and must be collected in-person from the Industry Accreditation desk, presenting the same ID entered in the accreditation form as well as a copy of the registration confirmation.

No refund is possible in case of non-attendance or cancellation.

Loss or theft of the accreditation badge must be reported to the local police authority. The badge will only be replaced against renewed payment and within the times of the issuing office.

Moreover as the other years the Venice Production Bridge will propose different services: Industry Gold Club, Industry Business Centre, Spazio Incontri (online meetings room), Exhibition Areas. 

VPB Market Screenings will be available only for all the Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants. The Digital Video Library will be available for viewing of films on the Festival Scope Pro platform (pro.festivalscope.com) with a personal password given to all Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants.

Industry Gold, Trade and Online VPB participants can submit to the VPB Market Screenings their films produced after 1st January 2021, no later than 5th August 2021. They can submit to the Digital Video Library their films produced after 7th September 2020, no later than 5th August 2021.

The Film Delegation accreditation is exclusively reserved to individuals involved with the films shown as part of Official Selection of the Festival  as well as in the programmes of the Settimana Internazionale della Critica and the Giornate degli Autori.

The Film Delegation accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the 78th Venice International Film Festival. This accreditation is a service offered by the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia, guaranteeing the best possible stay in Venice to its guests. The accreditation holds the same privileges as the Industry Professional accreditation and gives access to the Exhibition Area, the online access to the projects of the Venice VR Expanded section, the possibility to see all selected films and third priority admission to  Press and Industry Screenings.

The number of Film Delegation accreditations to be issued for each presented film is at the full discretion of the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia.

Loss or theft of the accreditation badge must  be reported to the local police authority. The badge will be replaced within the times of the issuing office.

Producers, sales agents, and distributors  that meet the necessary requirements and are formally presented by their production company have the right to request additional Industry accreditations (Gold, Trade, or Professional depending on the professional profile) at the corresponding registration fee and with all the privileges and services offered. This accreditation is valid for the entire duration of the Festival.

Full information concerning the programme, projection and screening times of the Festival will be available on the official website from mid-August, as well as in the official programme, which will be handed out with the accreditation badge.

Starting 1st August, the main representative of each production company of the films selected for the Festival will receive all necessary information concerning the accreditation procedure.

The Cinema accreditation is dedicated to those who operate within the film sector under a cultural profile.

The Cinema accreditation can be requested by:

· University lecturers or researchers involved in teaching or researching subjects related to film;
· Teachers of public schools teaching film studies; in this case, the request must be accompanied by up-to-date documentation of the subjects taught and by a letter from the head teacher;
· Students of training and professional film schools;
· Main representatives of major national film associations;
· Heads or close collaborators of cultural associations producing detailed evidence of their film activity;
· Heads of publishing companies with specific editorial interest in the field of cinema;
· Heads of Italian and foreign cultural institutions;
· Heads of public and local cultural administrations.

Cultural operators and representatives of film clubs and cultural associations affiliated with national cinema associations are kindly recommended to refer directly to the associations to request a Cinema accreditation.

Requests which do not fit into the above categories will not be considered.

All requests must be accompanied by detailed and up-to-date documentation indicating the applicant’s category.
 

CINEMA ACCREDITATION AND SERVICES OFFERED
The Cinema accreditation offers the possibility to view all films of the Festival at the screenings marked as “Tutti gli accrediti / All accreditations”, the online access to the projects of the Venice VR Expanded section, the access to the Exhibition Areas and to the free access conferences organized by the Venice Production Bridge.

The screening schedule will be available on the website from mid-August and in the official programme which will be handed out with the accreditation badge.

The accreditation will be valid for the entire duration of the 78th Venice International Film Festival.

The Cinema accreditation also allows you to benefit from accommodation at a special price in the affiliated university residences for the entire duration of the Festival.

CINEMA ACCREDITATION REQUEST
The online Cinema Accreditation request needs to include:

· contact details of the applicant or whoever will be the contact throughout the accreditation process (first name, last name, address, telephone and e-mail).

And, according to the applicant cultural profile, one of the following documents to be attached to the web form:

· request on letterhead paper including the number of accreditations requested and listing the names and specific positions of people within the educational institution, in the case of teachers and students and signed by the teacher of the cinema course ;
· up-to-date documentation of the cinematographic activity carried out and including the number of accreditations requested, and listing the names and specific positions of people within the organisation, company or cultural association;
· request on letterhead paper of the University, signed by the professor or researcher requesting accreditation.

We remind you that the request has to be accompanied by the appropriate documentation as outlined by the online procedures.

The Registration Office will evaluate all requests and, where accreditation is granted, will send written communication and issue the codes to fill out the relevant online forms. These must be filled out and returned online.

SERVICES OFFERED

Cinema accreditation offers the possibility to view all films of the Festival marked as “Tutti gli accrediti” (All pass holders), the online access to the projects of the Venice VR Expanded section, the access to the Exhibition Areas and to the free access conferences organized by the Venice Production Bridge (link alla pagina VPB) .

ACCREDITATION REQUEST

The following data will be requested in the online accreditation form for university students:
· contact details of the applicant and ID data;
· passport photo in jpg format;
· updated copy of the payment receipt of your tuition fees for the current academic year.

The Cinema Ticket Office will evaluate all requests and will send a confirmation email, together with payment information.

Please note that the accreditation badge, digital entry, can be paid exclusively with traceable payment systems online, such as credit and debit card.

No refund is possible in case of non-attendance or cancellation.
Loss or theft of the accreditation badge have to be reported to the local police authority. The badge will only be replaced against renewed payment and within the times of the issuing office.

Badges are issued at the full discretion of the Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia.

The Venice VR Expanded section of the 78th Venice International Film Festival, following the success of the 2020 edition, will again be held online, extending its duration from 1 - 19 September, 2021.
The Official Selection of Virtual Reality works of Venice VR Expanded will be available online to all the pass holders of the 78th VIFF on our partner platforms HTC’s Viveport and Facebook’s Oculus. They also will be able to experience online the social dimension of the selection, in the Venice VR Expanded VRChat World designed by VRrOOm.
The projects will be viewable online using PC VR headsets on the HTC’s Viveport platform and Oculus Quest headests on the Facebook’s Oculus platforms.

 

VR ONLINE ACCREDITATION

Fee: € 100

In order to be accredited it is necessary to register and finalize the payment online.

The accreditation (for viewers over 18 years-old) will allow exclusive access to the contents through personalized codes which will be available before the beginning of the festival on the Boxol platform, accessible through the creation of a Boxol personal account.

VR accreditation gives the following benefits:

- Exclusive access to the whole selection of Venice VR Expanded on the HTC Viveport and Facebook’s Oculus platforms;
- Exclusive access to the reservation of Venice VR Expanded live performances;
- Exclusive access to the private version of the Venice VR Expanded platform on VRChat designed by VRrOOm, where VR Accreditation holders can network with fellow VR;
accredited holders, film festival accredited guests, VR Industry guests and selected VR artists and teams;
- Exclusive access to daily panels and events taking place inside the Venice VR Expanded VRChat World;
- Exclusive access to “Meet the Creator sessions” panels moderated by Michel Reilhac and Liz Rosenthal;
- Exclusive access to the Venice VR Expanded opening and closing event;
- Exclusive access to the VRChat World Gallery selection;
- Dedicated hosts on the Venice VR Expanded platform to help welcome you and navigate the virtual world.

 

WHERE TO SEE THE PROJECTS
The Venice VR Expanded platform on VR Chat will present a dedicated area to the showcase of the selected projects and instructions on how to see them.
The Venice VR Expanded selection will be available to be experienced as follows:

- 3 DOF projects | Available on HTC Viveport e Facebook’s Oculus;
- 6 DOF projects compatible with PCVR headsets| Available on HTC Viveport;
- 6 DOF projects compatible with Oculus Quest headsets | Available on Facebook’s Oculus Store;
- Projects on VRChat | Access to the Venice VR Expanded World on VRChat;
- Projects upon reservation| Access on dedicated platforms;
- “VRChat World Gallery” selection | Access to the Venice VR Expanded World on VRChat.

The Venice International Film Festival reserves to the under 26 and over 60 years of age the possibility to request a Promotional Card that offers the possibility to view all films of the Festival marked as “Tutti gli accrediti” (All pass holders), according to seat availability.

The Promotional Card, valid for the entire duration of the Festival (1st – 11th September 2021), can be requested at the special Early Bird price of € 80 (instead of € 150) until 30th June 2021. In order to benefit from the Early Bird tariff, the payment shall be made by 8th July 2021.

After 30th June, the Promotional Card will then be available at the Full price of € 150 until 28th August 2021, 2:30 pm CET.

The Promotional Card can be purchased exclusively online with traceable payment systems, such as credit card and prepaid card.

The line-up will be announced at the end of July and the screenings schedule will be available on the website www.labiennale.org from the beginning of August. The official programme will be handed out with the accreditation badge.
