Synopsis
Anker is released from prison after a fifteenyear sentence for robbery. The money from the heist was buried his brother, Manfred. Only he knows where it is. Unfortunately, Manfred has since developed a mental disorder, causing him to forget everything. Together, the brothers embark on an unexpected journey to locate the money — and discover who they really are. Den sidste viking is a humorous, intriguing and devious tale about identity.
Director’s Statement
Den sidste viking is a dark fable with a comical undertone about identity. The film explores how our identities are shaped by others’ perceptions, with the hope that, despite challenges, we can discover our true selves. The focus is on being who you truly want to be. The film highlights that people are more than one thing, encouraging a more holistic outlook that is inherently more forgiving and less judgemental. Also, if you know you are more than one thing, you won’t be as easily offended or take things to heart.
