Composers working at site-specific sound installations

Biennale College Musica 2021
Composers working at site-specific sound installations that include pre-recorded voice material

The workshop is dedicated to young composers interested in site-specific sound installations.

The selected composers will have the opportunity to create a new site-specific sound installation under the supervision of the Artistic Director of the Biennale Musica, Lucia Ronchetti, supported by different tutors.

The new sound-installation by the selected composers will be presented at the Biennale Musica (17-26 September 2021).

The selected composers will get the opportunity to create their world premieres in three different stages. The first stage will be aimed at the conception of the project under the supervision of the tutors; in the second stage the selected composers will be given the possibility to work on the CIMM (La Biennale di Venezia Centre for Computer Music and Multimedia) Studios and complete the project; the third stage will focus on the rehearsals and production of the new project.

The Biennale College Musica will select a number of suitable locations in the city, as to enable each composer to select his/her preferred location.

The voice material can include any kind of pre-recorded voice files. If new samples are needed, the selected composers can collaborate with the bass Andreas Fischer.

The Biennale College Musica team under the supervision of the Artistic Director of the Music Department will be in communication with each composer throughout the whole process of composition, from April to September 2021 and will also be available for suggestions and revisions of the new projects.
