Composers for electronics (25’ - 35’)

The selection is dedicated to young composers interested in writing a new work for electronics which will be presented as a world premiere in the sound exhibition LISTENING/HEARING presented  in the Sala d’Armi E - Arsenale during the Biennale Musica (September 26 - October 10, 2024).

The selected composer will get the opportunity to create his/her world premiere in different stages, which will be aimed at the conception of the project and its production and realization. The electronic conception and treatment will be developed in dedicated sessions organized in the CIMM Studios (La Biennale di Venezia Centre for Computer Music and Multimedia).

Biennale College Musica team will be in contact with the selected composer throughout the whole process of composition (from March to September 2024) and will be available for suggestions and revisions of the new project.

Applications

Applicants must register filling the online form, and submit by the deadline of January 27, 2024:

· Detailed CV in English
· Brief description of the project in English (each candidate can present one or two projects)
· 1 or 2 PDFs of scores and audio documentation concerning past projects of electronic music.

Candidate selection:
The selected composer will be chosen by the Artistic Director after close scrutiny of their CVs and documentation of artistic production.

Registration fee:
There are no fees for the application.
The selected composers only will be required to pay a registration fee of € 80.00 (VAT included, non-refundable) to be paid exclusively by credit card following the announcement of their acceptance.

Travel and accommodation:
La Biennale di Venezia provides travel and accommodation for the participants.

Each participant will receive a fee for his/her composition/installation of € 2,000 gross.

Only one project may be applied for.
Applications for more than one project will NOT be accepted and only the first application submitted will be considered.

La Biennale di Venezia reserves the right in any case to modify, cancel or interrupt the initiative described above, in that the announcement or the selection do not constitute a binding contract for the same, nor do they entail the right to the reimbursement of any expense other than those specified above.

The integral acceptance of the conditions of the Biennale College Musica Call makes the application eligible.
