Thomas Richards / Theatre No Theatre - The Inanna Project

Description
The figure of Inanna – central in Sumerian mythology – transcends the role of a mere deity, standing as a kind of female archetype that exemplifies full female accomplishment. Her story, traced back to the third millennium BCE in ancient Mesopotamia, is a testament to the early foundations of human civilization.
The Inanna Project has come to encompass the meticulous translation of ancient Sumerian poems into languages spoken by the performers (including Spanish, Korean, Italian, and Hebrew), and delves into the development of sonic creations inspired by traditions of singing and storytelling from the cultures of the performers.
Fundamentally, we approach these ancient texts as if they hold a secret for us today, asking ourselves: what might these poems teach us about ourselves, life, and each of us face to the other?
