synopsis

Mây nhu’ng không mu’a is a modern tale of Kafka in Vietnam—a country in the middle of a transformation. The film feels like a piece of cultural news with daily events: a wedding, traffic congestion, a robbery, a mystical metamorphosis and a love story.

directors' statement

A factotum in a wedding dress shop who searches for the love of her life and a road busker who loses his speaker and looks for his lost voice. They travel through different spaces in the same city. Sometimes, other worlds exist between cuts, where the characters continue living and the audience can keep wandering. We believe myth is an essential part of reality. Whatever human can think of or imagine can become “reality”, so the border of “reality” are extended to infinity. The film also blurs the line between life and death, reality and fantasy. In the end, only humans and love remain.
