Synopsis

Mathieu lives in Paris, Alice in a small seaside resort in Western France. He is a famous actor, about to turn fifty. She is a piano teacher in her forties. They were in love fifteen years ago, then separated. Time has passed. They each went their ways and slowly healed.
When Mathieu goes try to overcome his melancholia in a thermal spa, he stumbles upon Alice.

Director's Statement

I had already made several films dealing with the devastating financial mechanisms of multinationals, when Covid stroke. That experience of isolation obliged us all to “press pause” on our own activities. For the individuals we are, who exist largely via our social function, we probably all felt deeply the staggering precarity of our existence. My characters reflect that vertiginous moment. A man and a woman arrive at the logical conclusion of decisions they made when they separated fifteen years earlier. I wanted to linger on that moment when we ruminate on choices never made, or made badly, encounters we missed or misused, doors we never opened, meetings we missed, moments in life when we decided to take one road instead of another. Haunting, secret questions we all ask, whether powerful or not, known or unknown, men and women both.
