Un’altra Italia era possibile, il cinema di Giuseppe De Santis (Giuseppe De Santis - The Artist, the Man)

The documentary sets out to tell the story of a director who was able to attract the whole world’s attention and yet as a consequence of his political and aesthetic coherence was able to do far less work than he deserved. The story of a professor of cinema studies who earned the gratitude and affection of all his students. The story of a lover of the cinema who was able to unite his social and civil engagement with a capacity to entertain worthy of Hollywood.

The film is what I hope is a faithful portrait of a director for whom I had great affection, admiration and respect.
I was struck by the fact that all the people I contacted to ask them to participate in this project, however different each other, agreed without hesitation and with enthusiasm; a sign that they too thought as I do that another Italy was possible.
