79th Venice Film Festival

The 79th Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia and was held on the Lido di Venezia from 31 August to 10 September 2022. The Festival is officially recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).

The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. One section is devoted to enhance the restoration works on classic films as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema in particolar to the advantage of young audiences.

Line-up

The line-up includes the following sections: Venezia 79, Out of Competition, Orizzonti, Biennale College - Cinema, and Venice Classics.

The autonomous and parallel sections, whose line-up is selected in accordance with their own regulations, include the Settimana Internazionale della Critica and the Giornate degli Autori.

Juries and awards

There are 4 Juries at the 79th Venice International Film Festival:
Venezia 79, Orizzonti, Premio Venezia Opera Prima “Luigi De Laurentiis”, and Venice Immersive.

 

The official awards were presented on Saturday 10th September 2022 during the Awards Ceremony.
