Synopsis

Rolf the anthropologist, Robert Harper the oil prospector, Charlie and Swan land in the jungle on Mindanao, on a mission to explore for petroleum deposits.
Arriving at the base camp the four men, seeing it is deserted, realize that everyone in it has been killed by the Manabu, a tribe still living in the Stone Age and practicing cannibalism.

Director's Statement

It was the producer Giorgio Carlo Rossi’s intention to make a film on cannibalism. I found the idea a tasty one: to be able to get to know Asia and discover the green hell of Malaya. I set about studying cannibalism and in an issue of National Geographic found some interesting photos of an aboriginal tribe in Borneo. Photos taken in an enormous cave, where you could see various natives hanging on lianas. I fell in love with those images and the magazine became my storyboard. I saw prehistory and chose to go and explore the rainforest of Malaysia, where I would shoot what I consider today my best film or, at least, the most honest.
