As the Creative Director of The Smartphone Orchestra — a low-threshold, multiplayer, interactive storytelling platform — I am very happy to work on pieces like La Laguna Parla: a smartphone-guided ritual about water for hundreds of participants, transforming the crowd into a living, sounding ecosystem. It is joyful, urgent, and deeply immersive. And nowhere could it feel more necessary than Venice — a city that is itself a body of water, and that knows better than anywhere else what it means to be at the mercy of rising seas. This is not only a piece about water. It is a piece that makes you feel that you are water — and that, together, like drops of water, we could be immeasurably powerful in making change for the better.
